After designing the fountain, I set out to create the Float. In this post I’ll review everything that comes before the waterproof parts. I wanted the float to provide stability for the fountain, but also support lighting. I decided that an H shape would give me the best results and I just decided on the size based on preference. I mostly have pictures for this.
I knew the floating base would be in water all the time, so I chose pressure treated pine. I chose 2×6. I then added two treatments to the wood. The first was for looks and the second was to seal it. So far this is holding up really well. Here are the paints I purchased at Home Depot.
Next I added the LED lights. Here are the lights that I purchased for this project
These lights were really easy to work with, but they aren’t as bright on the fountain at night as I wanted. I leave them on the fade rotation between colors, and when it gets really dark, they do light up the fountain.
The video below shows how I put them assembled and tested them.
In the next post, I’ll show you the waterproof junction boxes I chose and how I installed them.
